Lotte Chemical Pakistan is a globally recognized supplier of purified terephthalic acid, which is an essential raw material required in the polyester industry. Lotte which is a South Korean conglomerate, acquired Pakistan PTA Limited’s major shareholdings and subsequently, the name of the was changed to Lotte Chemical Pakistan Ltd.

Lotte Pakistan is the largest direct foreign investment currently (US$ 490 million) in Pakistan’s petrochemical industry. Lotte’s plant is located at Port Qasim in Karachi and was built using ICI’s state-of-the-art technology in 1998. The plant produces Purified Terephthalic Acid needed in Pakistan’s textile and PET packaging industries and makes up the backbone of the polyester supply chain, which includes Polyester Staple Fibre, Filament Yarn and PET (bottle grade) resin.

The Lotte plant was constructed in 1997 and started production in June 1998. Lotte Pakistan’s complex plant follows world standards of safety, environmental care, product quality and process efficiency.
